Verified facts

AJ Bell's platform ended September with 796,000 customers, an increase of 152,000 over the financial year. Platform assets under administration reached £126.0bn.

The company reported £9.7bn of annual platform net inflows and £13.0bn of favourable market and other movements. Both contributed to the change in platform assets; the increase cannot be presented as customer investment performance.

These are platform figures, not totals for every AJ Bell business. The update is also not the full annual profit report, which is scheduled for December.

Apolifina analysis

Customer growth and inflows help assess a platform operator's commercial momentum. They do not establish that the service is the cheapest or most suitable for a particular investor.

For shareholders, the next question is how activity translates into revenue, costs and cash generation. For customers, fees, investment choice and functionality need their own assessment. Platform assets and assets managed in overlapping investment products should not be added together as if they were separate pots.

Uncertainty and risk

Asset totals depend on markets and customer flows, which can reverse. A trading update is not a completed annual earnings statement. This is independent reporting, not an endorsement, affiliate promotion or personalised platform recommendation.
