Verified facts

Sabre Insurance reported £173.4m of gross written premiums for the nine months ended 30 September, up 14.3% from £151.7m a year earlier. The figures in its 20 October trading update are unaudited.

The insurer continues to expect 2026 profit before tax to be slightly above 2025. It expects premium growth to moderate in the final quarter as it maintains pricing discipline.

Sabre estimates claims inflation at 6% to 7% during 2026 and says its own pricing covers it. Its comments on wider market pricing are the company’s assessment, not an independent finding about every insurer.

Apolifina analysis

Premium growth is not a measure of earnings growth. The cost of settling claims and the profitability of policies written matter alongside volume. For motorists, this update is not a prediction of their renewal quote: individual premiums depend on the customer, vehicle and insurer.

Uncertainty and risk

The earnings outlook is forward-looking. Claims experience, repair costs and competition can alter margins. An expectation of dividend support is not a declared dividend or a guaranteed shareholder return.

General information, not a personal recommendation. Investments can fall in value.
