Verified facts

Molten Ventures said on 26 October that its unaudited half-year net asset value was expected to be about 869p a share, compared with 760p at March's end.

The company reported approximately £109m of cash realisations. It also disclosed portfolio valuation uplifts and reductions; an increase in an unlisted holding's estimated value is not the same as a completed sale.

Apolifina analysis

For an investment-company shareholder, NAV is a useful reference rather than a guaranteed exit price. Cash realisations provide different evidence from fair-value marks. The market share price may trade above or below NAV, and that relationship can change.

Uncertainty and risk

These are preliminary estimates ahead of half-year results. Unlisted assets involve valuation uncertainty and can be hard to sell. General information only, not a recommendation.
