Verified facts

The FCA says clients cannot trade or otherwise use money and custody assets held with the firm while administrators assess the position. Adam Stephens and Philip Hemming of S&W Partners are the special administrators.

FSCS says it is investigating possible protection and is not currently accepting Jarvis customer claims. No decision has yet been made about protection or how assets will be returned. Customers do not need to submit a claim to FSCS at this stage.

Apolifina analysis

An investment's market value and the ability to access it are different risks. An administration does not establish that every asset is lost, but a client should not assume they can trade normally while the process runs.

The useful next step is a verified administrator update, or the client's usual adviser if assets were held through another business. Unsolicited recovery offers add another risk precisely when people are looking for answers.

Uncertainty and risk

Return dates, shortfalls and individual eligibility are not established here. An investigation is not a compensation award. The FCA's stated timetable for administrators to write to clients is not a deadline for paying them. General information only, not individual claims advice; investments and access to assets involve risk.
