Verified facts

Genuit expects full-year underlying operating profit of approximately £84m. Its 20 October trading update cites company-compiled analyst forecasts of £91m to £96m. Underlying operating profit is an adjusted measure, not statutory profit.

For the nine months to 30 September, revenue was £464.5m: up 3.5% as reported but down 4.3% like for like. The company adjusts the latter measure for acquisitions and disposals.

Genuit attributed weaker heating trading partly to unusually warm weather. It reported cash conversion above 90% year to date and leverage of 1.5 times at September’s end.

Apolifina analysis

Reported growth masks a contraction in the comparable business. Investors assessing the outlook should distinguish acquisition effects from demand for existing products. A delayed heating season may shift orders, but it does not establish that missed sales will return later.

Uncertainty and risk

The profit figure is a forecast. Weather, construction activity and input costs can change the outcome. Company comments about anticipated interest-rate rises are expectations, not evidence of a new Bank of England decision.

General information, not a personal recommendation. Investments can fall in value.
